OR416 Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB) Part I

OVERVIEW

Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB) Release 10ginstructs students in the use of the OWB toolset, to extract, transform and load data. This course will include an overview of the data warehousing principles.  The OWB topics covered will include defining, configuring, and validating the physical instance of the data warehouse. We shall cover generating, and deploying scripts to load the data warehouse from various sources.

DURATION:    3 Days

OBJECTIVES

  • Review the installation of OWB and the installation requirements.
  • Define how to use OWB as your main ETL toolset.
  • Define the different mappings needed for importing data.
  • Understand the deployment of code to Oracle.
  • Apply practical use of OWB by implementing them in hands-on lab.
  • Provide best practices guidelines for using OWB.
  • Facilitate discussion of student questions about the concepts and implementation of OWB.

PREREQUISITES

Persons taking this class should have a basic understand of Entity Relationship Modeling (ERD) and relational design concepts, SQL and PL/SQL programming and Data Warehousing concepts.  These classes are offered by ONYX.

INTENDED AUDIENCE

Developers responsible for extract, transform and load processes using OWB.

FORMAT

Lecture and discussion followed by hands-on lab workshops for each major topic to reinforce the material.  Each participant will receive an extensive lecture guide with several examples and workshop solutions.
